Women and Children’s Services is a collection of departments at St. Tammany Parish Hospital that strives to meet the needs of women and children among several departments.

NEW FAMILY CENTER

The St. Tammany Parish Hospital New Family Center consists of Labor & Delivery, the Treatment Room (triage area), Maternal Fetal Medicine Clinic, Postpartum and Newborn Nursery.

The New Family Center which includes 19 private rooms for mothers who are in labor as well preterm mothers. The spacious rooms also allow mothers to deliver their babies and spend their recovery time all in the same room. Our New Family Center has a triage area where specialized nurses, under the direction of your obstetrician, assess your labor progress and determine if you will be admitted or return home until you are ready to deliver.

Our Newborn Nursery is staffed with highly specialized nurses and doctors to put your mind at ease as they attend to the needs of your new baby.

We offer the latest technology for diagnosis, fetal heart rate monitoring and documentation, maternal surveillance, and safely delivering and caring for St. Tammany’s newest residents. Our technology allows the attending Ob-Gyn to have off-site access to review the progress of the patient and status of the fetus throughout labor.

The center’s top priority is providing quality care that combines technical excellence and knowledge of normal childbearing, while giving special attention to fulfilling parents’ preferences for their child’s birth experience.

PEDIATRICS

Children are special, with their own set of emotional and healthcare needs, and that’s why St. Tammany Parish Hospital continues to evolve to provide an entire unit dedicated to caring for infants, children and young adults up to 18 years of age.

We understand a hospital stay can be scary for children, so we have created a pediatric unit that is cheerful and kid-friendly while providing a comforting, healing atmosphere for the whole family. Even our meal service is kid-friendly. You will find brightly colored artwork, family-friendly décor and a staff that is specially trained to care for children.
