Providing patients with the most advanced diagnostic imaging systems available, the outpatient radiology department of St. Tammany Parish Hospital is professionally staffed with an onsite board certified radiologist. In addition, to delivering the most convenient, comfortable and professional experience possible, streamlined systems deliver rapid turn around times of results - on average, less than four hours from start to finish.Service include:

Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

While most tests can be performed without an appointment, patients are encouraged to contact the scheduling department at (985) 871-5665 for additional information about their tests including how to properly prepare for the test.

An ultrasound is also known as sonography. This is a method of seeing inside the human body through the use of high frequency sound waves. The sound waves are recorded to create an image of body tissues. Information obtained from these images can be used along with other data to make a diagnosis.

Ultrasound services are available at the Paul D.Cordes Outpatient Pavillion, the Mandeville Diagnostic Center and the St. Tammany Parish Hospital main campus. Please call the scheduling department to make an appointment at 985-871-5665.

  • CT Overview
    • Imaging procedures performed on a state of the art American College of Radiology-accredited  multi-slice CT scanner by American Registry of Radiologic Technologists-registered technologists. CT uses X-rays to get axial images of various body parts. Depending on the anatomical structure being visualized, oral contrast, IV contrast or both may be needed for better visualization. It is a relatively safe and painless procedure that can usually be completed in 10 to 30 minutes.
  • CT Cardiac Calcium Scoring
    • A non-invasive imaging technique that utilizes our state of the art ACR-accredited multi-slice CT scanner to visualize calcium plaque in the cardiac vessels. This procedure is performed with no IV or oral contrast and should be completed in a minimal amount of time.
  • Computed tomography angiography (CTA)
    • A CTA is a specialized X-ray that examines blood flow in arteries when they are filled with a contrast material (a substance that makes the blood vessels show on an X-ray). Computed tomography (CT) uses a sophisticated machine to take X-rays from many different views, producing detailed two-dimensional images that can be combined by a computer to form three-dimensional images of virtually any body part including the heart, abdomen and brain. These procedures take the place of much more invasive techniques. The entire procedure is relatively quick taking between 10 and30 minutes.
  • CTA Cardiac
    • An imaging technique used to visualize the arteries of the heart. This procedure takes the place of much more invasive procedures used in the recent past. The procedure involves having a heart monitor placed on the chest while on the CT table. IV contrast is administered, and detailed 2-D images of the heart and all of the vessels of the heart are produced. After the 2-D images are produced 3-D are then rendered allowing the doctors to see even the small coronary arteries.

CT services are available by appointment at the Paul D.Cordes Outpatient Pavilion, Mandeville Diagnostic Center and the St. Tammany Parish Hospital main campus. To schedule an exam, please call the scheduling department at (985) 871-5665. St. Tammany Parish Hospital is accredited by the American College of Radiology.
