Television
Television with in-bed remote controls are provided in each room.
Telephones
Telephones are provided in each in room except in the critical care units. Patients may receive calls in their rooms from 7 a.m to 10 p.m. Local calls may be made at any time from the room by dialing 9 and the number. Your family and friends can call you directly by dialing the designated number posted in your room. Amplifier/TDY phones for the hearing impaired are available upon request. Cell phone use is permitted in the hospital. Cell phones should not be used in close proximity to patient monitoring equipment.
Language Interpreters
Every effort will be made to provide an interpreter for patients who do not speak English or who communicate through sign language.
Guest Services
We want to ensure that your stay is as comfortable as possible. A Guest Services coordinator is available to assist you and your family with special requests, explain hospital policies and to serve as your liaison with hospital staff. You may contact Guest Services, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at 898-4669. On weekends or after hours contact your nurse.
Pastoral Services
St. Tammany Parish Hospital believes that total patient care demands attention to the spiritual, as well as the physical and emotional needs of each patient. Members of the pastoral services staff are available to assist you, whatever your religious tradition, and can be reached by dialing "0" for the operator. Your priest, minister or rabbi is always welcome to visit you while you are here.
Dietitians
The hospital maintains a clinical nutrition staff of full-time registered dieticians and technicians to meet your dietary needs during your stay. If you have questions about your meals or diet, please call ext. 4063
Social Workers
Social workers are assigned to each patient care area and are trained to help patients and family members deal with financial, social and emotional problems that relate to illness or hospitalization. They will assist you and your family with planning for your discharge.
