STPH EXPANSION PLANS FOLLOW EVIDENCE-BASED DESIGN
COVINGTON LA — Just as healthcare is increasingly relying on evidence-based
medicine, hospitals are increasingly interested in evidence-based design (building
based on the best available evidence for promoting safety, health, wellness, healing
and inspiration). St. Tammany Parish Hospital will use this significant hospital
design improvement as it grows to provide a hospital environment that is family-oriented,
improves quality and supports staff.
Successive phases of the strategic plan will evolve on pace with regional growth
and will transform our setting into a healing environment that helps to improve
patient outcomes. The long-term strategy includes inpatient services on the main
campus and outpatient services throughout the service area, taking care to the neighborhoods
where people need it. Healing Arts (including nature, art, beauty and restful influences
in the designs and décor of our spaces) will continue to be an integral part of
St. Tammany’s growth and development.
Current report of ongoing constructions projects:
As part of the strategic growth initiative at St. Tammany Parish Hospital, the Covington
office of the St. Tammany Physicians network and the Sleep Disorders Center will
expand to better serve our patients.
Together, these two services will be located at 80 Gardenia Drive in Covington at
the corner of Gardenia and Azalea Drive along Hwy. 21 in front of Flower Estates.
When complete, it will be an 11,674 sq.ft. single story building. The project is
estimated to take approximately six months to complete.
With all permitting complete, the site is cleared and the project is in the first
phase of work with the forming of the slab now in progress including the underground
plumbing and electrical rough-ins. Within the next few weeks, the slab will be poured
and the erection of the walls and building framework will begin.
