Volunteer

Ongoing Volunteer Opportunities at The Parenting Center include:

First Steps / Mom to Mom Volunteers help families get off to a good start.  Did you know there are new mothers in our community who could learn a lot from you?  Unfortunately parenting is a difficult job and often very stressful to new parents.
Please consider volunteering to help others as they experience the joys and the compromises that come with parenting. By donating a few hours per month you can make a difference in the lives of children and families in our comminity.  Trained volunteers visit new parents in the hospital to offer: Emotional Support; Parenting Information and Community Resourses.

Child Sitter, Story Teller, Special Activity Coordinator all help keep children busy while mom is otherwise occupied with on-site classes, volunteer activities or with siblings.

Birthday Party Coordinator mails out invitations to monthly birthday party and coordinates pizza pick-up and cup cake baking with other volunteers.

Field Trip Coordinator coordinates and attends field trips to ensure that everyone has fun.

Play Room, Play Yard and Garden Keepers each help to make The Parenting Center a cleaner, nicer place to play.

General Clerical Helpers work on task-oriented jobs such as mailings, artwork preparation for various center related projects, filing etc.

Monster Mash Committee Chairs and Volunteers organize and volunteer for our annual fund raising event. A vast range of volunteer talents and help are needed at this fun fall family festival. See the other side of this sheet for more details.

Safe Sitter® Instructors will be trained to help assist with this course.  Safe Sitter® is a medically accurate, “ready to teach” program designed to prepare 11 to 13 year olds to be safe and nurturing babysitters. Instructors teach life skills – business, medical, safe habits – in this high quality course.

1. It’s fun and easy to teach – and the adolescents love it!

2. It’s rewarding – you are helping to prevent injuries in your community.

3. You’ll feel called to the cause – keeping children safe!

4. You’ll feel a sense of hope for the future by training Better sitters today… and better parents tomorrow.

5. You CAN make a difference.
