STPH Employee Heads Infection Prevention Group
COVINGTON, LA- St. Tammany Parish Hospital Director of Infection Prevention Linda Polo RN CIC is the 2010 president of the Greater New Orleans chapter of the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology, (APIC-GNO). The chapter is comprised of infection control professionals working in Jefferson, Orleans, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. John, St. Mary, St. Tammany, Tangipahoa and Washington Parishes.
Polo also serves on the APIC’s national planning committee for its 2010 annual conference being held in New Orleans.
She has worked at STPH since 2007 and has over 30 years of experience in infection prevention. She is an alumna of the Charity Hospital of New Orleans School of Nursing and maintains a certified infection control (CIC) designation.
The APIC is the professional association of more than 12,000 members having the primary responsibility for infection prevention, control and hospital epidemiology in healthcare settings around the world. APIC’s members include nurses, epidemiologists, physicians, quality and patient safety professionals, healthcare executives, microbiologists, clinical pathologists, laboratory technologists and public health practitioners. APIC advances its mission through education, research, consultation, collaboration, public policy, practice guidance and credentialing.
