"Tips for Living and Coping" from the American Brain Tumor Association (ABTA)
For years, ABTA’s Connections Pen Pal Program has filled this need by matching patients, caregivers and family members with others who share a similar brain tumor experience. Once connected, pen pals communicate and support one another through e-mails, telephone calls and/or letters. The Connections Pen Pal program continues to be an important "connection" vehicle for many.
ABTA has also launched a new online version of Connections (click on link). This social networking community is based on the same premise as the Connections Pen Pal Program – bringing brain tumor patients, caregivers and family members together for support and friendship. However, the new online community also allows visitors to create groups, blogs and personal profiles; share information and resources; and post photos of their brain tumor journey.
If you have questions or need more information on this or other cancer support services, contact the Cancer Resource Center at 985-898-4581 or e-mail ccorizzo@stph.org .
