COVINGTON, LA- STPH announces Billie J. Whittington, CPHQ, has earned the Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality designation after successfully passing the national certification examination offered by the Healthcare Quality Certification Board.
The CPHQ designation is the internationally recognized and accredited competency-based credential for the healthcare quality profession. It recognizes professional and academic achievement by individuals in the field of healthcare quality management. CPHQs have a comprehensive body of knowledge including quality management, quality improvement, case/care/disease/utilization management and risk management at all employment levels and in all healthcare settings.
The credentialing program is fully accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies of the National Organization for Competency Assurance. It is the only international voluntary certification program in the field of healthcare quality management to achieve this accreditation.
Whittington, of Covington, is the quality and patient safety manager in the STPH decision support department. She has worked at the hospital since 2006.
She has a bachelor’s of science degree in clinical laboratory sciences from the University of Mississippi Medical Center and a master’s of public administration degree from Louisiana State University. Whittington is also certified as a medical technologist by the Association of Clinical Pathology.
