The St. Tammany Parish Hospital emergency department is a non-bedded unit, providing emergency care for all patients without discrimination. STPH is Covington's
accredited chest pain center and is the only west St. Tammany Hospital in the
ASSERT telestroke network.
With good teamwork, STPH ER strives to treat every patient according to each individual’s emergency need in a timely manner. All patients requesting examination and/or treatment will receive an appropriate medical screening exam by a physician to determine if an emergency medical condition exists.
In 2005, St. Tammany Parish Hospital adjusted its system in the Emergency Department and drastically reduced wait times.
