STPH to Host Educational Session About Diabetes
COVINGTON, LA — With seemingly minor symptoms that are often overlooked, diabetes frequently goes undiagnosed. Seventeen million people in the U.S. have diabetes but 5.9 million don’t know they have it. Left untreated, diabetes can cause major health problems including heart disease, high blood pressure, kidney disease and death.
In an informative presentation, Madisonville primary care physician Dr. Arlette Delcham will provide accurate and current information about the two types of diabetes, who is at risk of developing diabetes and the importance of exercise and maintaining a healthy diet. She will also discuss the screening process, diagnosis and diabetes education resources available at St. Tammany Parish Hospital.
The discussion will take place Tuesday, June 18 at 5:30 p.m. at the St. Tammany Physicians Network office in Madisonville,1520 Highway 22, Madisonville. Interested participants may RSVP by calling 985-773-1600.
