Heart Walk 2014 - How to Participate
HEART WALK IS COMING;
HERE'S HOW YOU CAN PARTICIPATE
COVINGTON - The run-up to Northshore Heart Walk 2014 is officially underway, and this year’s event, scheduled for March 29 at Fontainebleau State Park, is one you won’t want to miss.
Before the actual walk, though, is an even bigger effort you can participate in – the Heart Walk campaign to raise money to fight heart disease. Donations can be made quickly and easily online by clicking here and picking the team you’d like to donate to.
In preparation for the actual Heart Walk – and as part of the event’s T-shirt contest – STPH is selling Heart Walk shirts in the hospital's Gift Shop to be worn the day of the event. T-shirts are $12, with a portion of the proceeds going to Heart Walk, and they must be ordered in the Gift Shop by March 20.
T-shirts will be available for pickup from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 24 in the Abita Room or March 25-26 in the Gift Shop and will be delivered to offsite locations March 24. Click here to download an order form.
“Heart disease and stroke impact all of us, but we can make a difference by supporting all of the events surrounding Heart Walk,” said Luis Marquez, STPH cardiovascular and imaging services director and co-chairman of the STPH Heart Walk campaign. “Through education and research the American Heart Association is working to build healthier lives.”
The 2014 Northshore Heart Walk will begin at 9 a.m., with the opening ceremonies at 9:30 a.m. and the noncompetitive walk at 10 a.m. Outside of the walk itself, there are multiple opportunities to be involved that day, including
- Love Your Heart Awards, which St. Tammany Parish Hospital sponsors. More info can be found by clicking here.
- Heart and Stroke Torches, which celebrate survivors and honor those lost to heart disease and stroke. A $10 donation the day of the event gets you a torch to carry on your walk.
- The Tribute Wall, where you can post your photos and stories to honor the memory those who have lost their lives to heart disease.
