Endoscopic Ultrasound

St. Tammany Parish Hospital is the only place on the Northshore that performs endoscopic ultrasound for gastrointestinal issues. This technology involves inserting a tiny scope down an anesthetized patient's throat and into the stomach, where ultrasound creates a detailed picture of the surrounding organs. This procedure provides visualization and potential for biopsy if necessary, and is a less invasive method of diagnosing gastrointestinal diseases and cancer.
